PATIENT INFORMATION

Xanax® tablets

Pfizer PFE Switzerland GmbH

WHAT IS XANAX AND WHEN IS IT USED?

The active substance in Xanax is alprazolam, a substance from the benzodiazepine group. Xanax has an anxiolytic, relaxing, and calming effect. It is used to treat anxiety, tension, and panic disorders.

Prescriptened by your doctor.

WHAT PRECAUTIONS SHOULD BE TAKEN?

Simultaneously drinking alcohol or taking certain other medicines can increase the effect of benzodiazepine-containing medicines such as Xanax.

WHEN SHOULD XANAX NOT BE USED?

Xanax must not be taken if you are hypersensitive to benzodiazepines or any other component of the preparation, or if you have pathological muscle weakness (myasthenia gravis), severe impairment of respiratory function, respiratory arrest during sleep (sleep apnea syndrome) and severe impairment of liver function.

WHEN IS CAUTION REQUIRED WHEN TAKING XANAX?

This medicine can impair the ability to react, the ability to drive, and the ability to use tools or machines!

Addiction risk

As with all benzodiazepine-containing preparations, taking Xanax can lead to dependency. This can occur especially if the drug is taken continuously for a long period of time (in certain cases after just a few weeks) and can result in withdrawal symptoms if the drug is stopped abruptly.

Restlessness, anxiety, insomnia, lack of concentration, headaches, and sweating can then occur. These symptoms usually subside after two to three weeks. See our collection of Xanax for sale online cheap, even without a script

In order to keep the risk of developing a dependency as small as possible, please note the following:

  • Only take Xanax if prescribed by your doctor.
  • Never increase the dose prescribed by the doctor.
  • Tell your doctor if you want to stop taking the medicine.
  • Your doctor will periodically decide whether treatment needs to be continued.
  • Long-term use (usually more than four weeks) may only take place under careful medical supervision.

Taking Xanax and opioids at the same time can lead to a strong suppression of certain brain functions with severe breathing disorders up to unconsciousness and death and must therefore be avoided.

Xanax 2 mg tablets contain 0.22 mg sodium benzoate (E211) per tablet equivalent to 0.001 mg/mg. Sodium benzoate can increase jaundice (yellowing of the skin and eyes) in newborn babies (up to 4 weeks of age).

Please only take Xanax after consulting your doctor if you know that you suffer from a sugar intolerance.

HOW DO YOU USE XANAX?

The doctor will determine the dosage that is right for you, as well as the duration of treatment and the time at which you take the tablets.

Usual dosing instructions for Xanax 2 mg

The usual dosage is 0.5-1.5 mg daily divided into several doses. Depending on the patient’s response, up to 4 mg daily, and in isolated cases up to 6 mg, may be necessary. The tablets are swallowed whole with some liquid.

The Xanax 2 mg tablet is oblong and has three score lines. To divide the tablet, place it on a hard surface with the embossing facing up and press the center of the tablet with your thumb. In the same way, the two halves can be divided further. This results in 4 parts of 0.5 mg each.

The Xanax 0.25 mg, 0.5 mg, and 1 mg tablets are provided with a decorative groove. These tablets must not be divided along the decorative groove.

Xanax 2 mg Pills

The Xanax tablets are taken once or twice a day. If you take it once a day, you should preferably take the prolonged-release tablet in the morning.

The usual starting dose is 0.5-1.5 mg daily; depending on the patient’s response, up to 4 mg daily, and in isolated cases up to 6 mg, may be necessary. The prolonged-release tablets are swallowed whole with some liquid and should not be chewed or divided.

Do not change the prescribed dosage on your own. If you think the medicine is too weak or too strong, talk to your doctor or pharmacist.

WHAT SIDE EFFECTS CAN XANAX HAVE?

Side effects occur predominantly at the beginning of treatment and usually subside with continued treatment or dose reduction.
